1. Sandy Simmons was a CU runner who won the first Bolder Boulder in 1979.
2. Portugal’s Rosa Mota, who lived and trained in Boulder through a good part of the 1980’s.
3. Anne Audain, who set a course record of 32:38 in 1983. The record was not bettered until 1995.
4. Rodolfo Gomes in 1982.
5. Thomas Osano and Delillah Asiago.
6. In 1997 CSU alum Libbie Hickman ran a very well paced race, coming from behind to win over several very strong Kenyan runners.
7. Boulderite Frank Shorter, who won in 1981, was an Olympic gold and silver medalist in the 1972 and 1976 marathons.
8. Herb Lindsey.
9. Another Boulderite, Arturo Barrios, who is now, of course, an American citizen.
10. Berhanu Adanne of Ethiopia. (If you knew the answer to this one, you are a true BB scholar!)
