May 6 was the 50th anniversary of Roger Bannister’s first sub-4 minute
mile, so it seems fitting to have a little one mile trivia feature this month.
Let’s see how many of these questions you can get right.
- CU Standout Mark Scrutton won the 1983 Bolder Boulder. Can you name another CU student who has won the race
- Which woman has won the most Bolder Boulders?
- Who is the only New Zealader to win the race?
- Americans won the first three Bolders, both in the men’s and women’s division. Who was the first male winner from another country?
- The first time a Kenyan won the BB was in 1991, when the winners in both the men’s and women’s division were women. Who were they?
- Who was the only CSU graduate to win the race?
- Who was the first Olympic medalist to win a BB?
- A Michigan alumni won the 1984 men’s race. Who was he?
- Rodolfo Gomez was the first Mexican to win the Bolder Boulder. Who was the second?
- In the 1990s the men’s race was dominated by Mexicans and Kenyans. Only once, in 1999, did a runner from another country win. Who was he and what country is he from?
