The Mile High Mile is back for its 8th season—bringing together Boulder’s running community for an unforgettable night at the track.

From first-time runners and youth athletes to competitive racers and elite milers, this event is designed for everyone who wants to experience the magic of racing a mile.

Held at Boulder High School in the heart of downtown Boulder, the event takes place during one of the city’s most energetic running weekends, alongside the excitement of the Boulder Creek Festival and the BOLDERBoulder 10K Expo. The streets, trails, and parks are buzzing with runners, families, and fans all weekend long.

Expect music, cheering crowds, athlete introductions, and the unique energy that only a track meet under the evening sky can deliver. 

Race Day Schedule

pm3:00 PM – 6:30 PM | Your Turn on the Track

Four laps. One goal. Infinite energy. Join the community for a series of seeded heats where the focus is on personal bests and pure fun

Inclusive Racing: Heats for Kids, High Schoolers, and Open/Masters athletes.

Pro Standards: Officially timed (FAT) for the serious competitors, but cheered on by the loudest crowd in Boulder for the fun-seekers.

Seed Your Speed: We group you by pace so you’re always in the mix, never alone.

6:45 PM – 7:15 PM | The Grand Finale: Elite Showdown

The energy hits its peak as the sun sets and the fastest milers in the region take the track. After your race, grab a front-row spot on the rail to witness the speed of the pros.

6:45 PM Women’s Elite Mile: Watch as top local and national talent chase the sub-4:30 dream with time bonus payouts.

7:00 PM Men’s Elite Mile: Experience the roar of the crowd as the men aim for a sub-4:00 clocking under the stadium lights.

Stay for the Magic: High-octane music, professional intros, and an electric atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else in Colorado.

    We’ll also offer race day registration, so runners can simply show up and join the fun.
