As the country went into lockdown early in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Boulder Road Runner members didn’t want to see their fitness go to waste, so Bruce Kirschner and Roger Sayer organized a three-part race series for the 60+ teams to participate in and to test their fitness with other clubs from around the U.S. The 3 races took place over Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends, and included clubs with the likes of the Atlanta Track Club, Lowell Greater Track Club, Greater Shore Athletic Club, and the Philadelphia Track Club. Teams were scored by the top 5 on the men’s side and the women’s teams score the top 3, and results were age-graded, so the highest average Age Graded team wins

In terms of cumulative results for all three races, the BRR Men 60+ team was the top performer out of three teams successfully completing all events with an average age grade of 83.65%. The BRR Women’s 60+ team: second place out of two women’s teams successfully completing all events (73.15% average age grading).

Individually, the Boulder Road Runner’s had two top scorers across the series; Roger Sayre, scored second place overall for the series with an average age grade of 84.25% and Lynn Hermanson was the top overall scorer among the women an average age grade of 79.88%!

“The series helped give purpose to training in an otherwise race-less period and our team is very grateful for it.”
