Boulder, CO. – The Boulder Road Runners are pleased to announce that its membership recently elected a new Board comprised of four new officers and three re-elected to continue their service.
Serving on the board starting Jan 23, 2022 are:
- President – Chris McDonald
- Vice President – Todd Straka
- Secretary – Becca Evans
- Treasurer – Flavio DeSimone
- Membership Chair – John Bridges
- At Large – Lorraine Greene
- At Large – Deb Conley
New Officers to the Board include:
Chris McDonald brings extensive executive leadership and board experience to match his enthusiasm for running and the community. McDonald helped form the Club’s M50+ racing team and is a former CU Buff harrier and steeplechaser Chris also serves on the Advisory Board of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring Marines by educating their children.
Deb Conley is a long-time Boulder resident and BRR Club Member who also ran collegiately at the University of Colorado. She has extensive experience serving on not-for-profit Boards including the President and founder of Lending Sight, and 10 years as President for the Center for People With Disabilities, a non-profit with a yearly budget of approximately 3 million.
Becca Evans has been a Boulder area resident since 2016 and works as a professional engineer specializing in water resources. Since then she has been active in the running and racing scene and is looking forward to giving back to the community that supported her.
Flavio DeSimone is a seasoned operational and finance executive. He took up running in his mid-40s and quickly rose to one of the top 3 M50 marathoners in the World.
Board members re-elected to serve, include:
John Bridges is a past President of the Club and serves as both Membership Chair and the Club’s volunteer coordinator. John was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 2020 for his many years of service to the sport and our community.
Lorraine Greene is a long-time BRR Club member, USATF official, and top-ranked masters triathlete. She also brings substantial not-for-profit board experience to the Club.
Todd Straka is a long-time member and served as Secretary over the last 2 years. He also has played the role of Meet Director for the Summer All-Comer T&F Series over the last 3 years.
“The new Board continues the quality leadership going back to the founding of the Club in 1979 under Rich Castro and continuing through the years with the participation of many passionate people”, said Mike Sandrock outgoing BRR President. “This Board is chock full of a love of running, experience in many areas, and leadership in the key roles that will help the Club undertake and implement its new three-year strategic plan. As is true of any team, getting the right talent and perspectives on the board is absolutely fundamental to the board’s success. Thanks to all who ran for Board seats.”
“The Club is grateful to Mike for focusing much of his term on building a succession plan for the Club and building on our legacy with Masters Racing Teams and our All-Comer Summer Track series,” added McDonald. “As one of the best writers on our sport, we will be leaning on Mike, and many of our long-serving members, to tell the story of our Club’s rich history while we begin work on our next chapter.”
