A Note to our Volunteers and Club Members:
What a beautiful evening of track and field we shared last week on July 2! Our All-Comers meets continue to be very successful this summer. Athletes choose our signature community event as a joyful space to express themselves through movement. Notably, it’s all possible because of our volunteers. Their dedication, integrity, and pride in their volunteer roles uphold the values of sport: fairness, accuracy, and community spirit.
At our third meet of the season, we welcomed 300 registered entries— nearly a record yet again. I heard from over 10 individuals that it was their very first time attending our meet. Our addition of a “PR Board”, a whiteboard where people could write their name and PR, and receive recognition over the microphone, was a hit for all ages! The PR Board celebrates and shares personal achievements, strengthening the bonds across ages, genders, and events.
We were also joined by new volunteers, whose presence and energy made a big difference. We were honored to welcome more coaches and their athletes, especially those from Spanish-speaking communities. The growing diversity in participation reflects the inclusive space we strive to create together.
One moment at the meet especially reminded me why we do this: When check-in wasn’t fully set up as athletes began arriving, long lines quickly formed. But without hesitation, so many volunteers stepped in to help get people registered and moving.
This is what community looks like. We build spaces where trust grows naturally, relationships form authentically, and connection becomes a habit, not just a reaction in times of crisis. And when it is time to act, whether in response to a need or an opportunity, you show up. Not out of pressure or ideology, but because you know and trust each other.

Timers get ready at the Boulder Roadrunners Summer All-Comers Track & Field Meet
True change begins with participation. And participation begins with habit.
When we all make a habit of showing up, listening, lending a hand, or simply being present, we redefine what civic duty and community success look like every day.
This is networking not for gain, but for good.
Community for community’s sake.
We build together.
Thanks to all of our efforts, we started the meet on time, and ran a successful event.
See you at our next meet, Thursday, July 17!
With gratitude,
Deborah Conley
Volunteer Coordinator & President
