What an incredible time to be part of our local running community! We all have backstage access to the greatest show on earth. If there was a dry eye in town as local runners Emma Bates and Helen Obiri lit up Boston, I didn’t see it. And it isn’t just the pros. Our local elite teams, our elite BRR age group racers, high schoolers, and collegians around Colorado are also riding the wave.

Athlete Support Program

We are making progress on this exciting initiative – our athlete support program. BRR has a long history of supporting Olympic running hopefuls who train in our community. Now, we are building on that tradition, and formalizing the program. Our mission is to support under-sponsored athletes who are aspiring to achieve the Olympic Trials Qualifying (OTQ), and an opportunity to represent our community, and the USA, at the 2024 Olympics.

We’re planning to make the program public in June. We have a name, a brand, a game plan, and several financial commitments from local sponsors. Leaders of the elite development programs in town have provided enthusiastic support and guidance.

Now it is your turn! We are looking for a handful of BRR members to participate in feedback sessions as we finalize the plan and get ready to launch. Please contact Marcey Cote marcey@mjcomm.net or Chris McDonald president@boulderroadrunners.org
to get involved in this inspiring program.

Our Audible for the Summer All-Comer Series

With Potts field reconstruction underway ahead of hosting the 2024 Pac-12 Track and Field Championships, our team worked hard to secure Fairview High School for four meets in June and July. Whether you are competing, volunteering, or cheering, please join us for the first track meet on Thur, June 1. Let’s celebrate our running community and make this a great BRR social event as well.

Team of Teams

The Race Round Up this month illustrates our teams are thriving. We are so proud of everyone! Our Team Coordinators are doing a great job building their rosters, setting goals that are fun and challenging, and simply having a great time together.

In August, we have two teams of 12 people going to Oregon for the Hood to Coast Relay. Our Men’s 50-59 team is going after the 23-year old Men’s Super Masters Course record. Our Women’s 50 team is building a squad to aim for a podium spot in either the women’s 50 or mixed masters division. What a great reflection of our goal to create unique running experiences for BRR members.

Member Banquet in August

After much reflection, and collecting feedback, we realized it would be much more fun to have our member banquet outside in the summer, rather than indoors in the winter. So, let’s plan an all-member bash for August! Please hit up Kate De Simone katedesimone12@yahoo.com to help plan a great celebration!
