Anthony Bruns (M40) ran 2:28:21 at the Colorado Marathon May 5th to add the Masters Colorado Soil Marathon record to his Half Marathon and Mile records.
Michael Kraus (M45) went 1:16:58 in the Colorado Half Marathon for 9th overall and AG champ. A good day in Fort Collins for the Club!
Kate De Simone (W50) and Flavio De Simone (M50) continued their tradition of early season triathlon to get fit with the 70.3 Ironman St. George. Kate led her peers through the swim leg, notably besting Flavio by 7.5 minutes! They both finished strong with Kate perfectly setting herself up for a long distance swim championship in three weeks – the Turks and Caicos 2.4 mile swim: https://globalswimseries.com/
Grand Blue Mile, Des Moines, IA – April 23
John Borthwick (M60) is your M60 Grand Blue Mile Champion and new course record holder posting a 5:15. Chris McDonald (M55) and John Prineas (M55) swept the top 2 spots in their age division at 5:00 and 5:07, respectively. The trio stuck around Des Moines for a couple days for the Drake Relays posting solid 800-meter results in cold and rainy conditions.
Bruce Kirschner (M70) NYC Half Marathon – March 17
In a field of almost 28,000 runners Bruce had the best finish time (1:38) of men age 70-74 (82 total) and all men 70 and over (117 total). Second place was over one minute behind. Average pace was 7:33 per mile. Bruce broke the M70-74 course record by nearly 5 minutes.

50k Hilo to Volcano 5:06, 1st Female, 3rd Overall. Uphill race, pouring rain, over 4000 feet of gain.
Also, an adventure run up Mauna Loa Road to where lava flow from last year’s eruption covers the road, “It was like being on another planet!”.
Boulder Track Series, Niwot – April 28
Chris McDonald (M55) posted the top time this season in the USA for 800 meters at 2:13 – fast enough for a shot to be selected for the Masters 800 meter exhibition event on Day 3 of the Olympic Trials.
USATF Masters 10k Championship, Dedham, MA – April 28
M70+ Wins! In yet another outstanding performance, the BRR 70+ men’s team won the 10k national championship! They bested second place Atlanta Track Club by 6:00 minutes.
Doug Bell recaps: We were strong favorites going in. We had won our last eight USATF team races. All four of us had excellent races, so we won our ninth straight USATF race. I ran a 43:45 and Doug Chesnut was right on my tail with a 43:48. Gary Ostwald was our third finisher with a 45:32. The individual competition was especially intense in the 70-74 age group. Weather was near perfect on a hilly course. In his new age group, Jan Frisby won easily in 52:02, beating second place by 11 minutes.

HYROX, Houston, March 18, 1st AG. HYROX combines both running and functional workout stations, where participants run 1k, followed by a functional workout station, repeated eight times.

Roger Sayre (M65) is going to try to better his American age group 25k record, on May 11, at the Amway River Bank Run, in Grand Rapids, MI. He set the record last year, at this race, at 1:40:41, 6:29/mi. Go, Roger!
