M50 4x800 Amer Record_baton

The Men’s 55+ relay team of Chris McDonald, Todd Straka, John Borthwick, and John Prineas grin big after breaking the American Record in the 4×800, running 9:19.55.

Men’s 55+ team shatters their own American Record in the 4x800m
As temperatures peaked in the 100s on Day 1 of the USATF Masters Outdoor T&F Championships in Sacramento, CA, the men’s 55+ team of John Borthwick, Todd Straka, Chris McDonald, and John Prineas, ran an average of just under 2:20 per 800m for a new 4x800m American Record time of 9:19.55, besting the Club’s own previous record by 55 seconds, set just two years ago. The team’s time was also good enough to set a new mark in the non-club category.

The rest of the meet was just as fruitful for BRR, with medals and solid performances from other members Adam Feerst, John Borthwick, and Bob Cottrell. Todd Straka and John Prineas also alternated places each taking home a silver and gold in their 800m and 1500m races over Saturday and Sunday, as well as closing out the weekend with a solid 4x400m race.

Black Squirrel

Adam Feerst, Frank Zoldak, and George Braun pose after representing BRR well at the Black Squirrel Trail Half, part of the USATF-CO Grand Prix series.

Our M70 team notched our 6th team victory out of six races this year at the Crim 10 Mile race in Flint, MI on August 24. Having George Braun join our 70-79 team is wonderful. Results were: Doug Bell 2nd in 1:12:07; Douglas Chesnut 6th in 1:14:00 and George Braun 8th in 1:17:22.
